Best time to visit
November to March

Dubai mixes the very new with the old. The Burj Khalifa rises over the modern city, the beaches and desert dunes are part of most visits, and around Dubai Creek the souks keep an older pace.

When to go

November to March is the most comfortable time, with average highs of about 24 to 31°C. From June to September it is extremely hot and humid, with highs around 40°C or more, so plan outdoor time for early morning or evening.

Getting around

The driverless Dubai Metro runs on two main lines, the Red Line and the Green Line, with stations at Dubai International Airport. To cross the creek between Deira and Bur Dubai, take an abra, a small boat used as a water taxi.

Mosques and Ramadan

To visit a mosque, dress conservatively with your shoulders, arms and knees covered, and women also cover their hair. Arrangements vary, so check with the mosque first. In Ramadan some restaurants change their hours, and the month comes about 11 days earlier each year.
