Jeddah has welcomed pilgrims for centuries and is the main arrival point for Umrah travellers heading to Makkah. King Abdulaziz International Airport handles most flights, and the Haramain high speed railway links Jeddah with Makkah and Madinah.
Al Balad
The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of coral stone houses with carved wooden balconies.
The corniche and the Red Sea
The corniche runs for miles past parks and sculptures to King Fahd's Fountain, which shoots water high over the sea. The reefs offshore are popular for diving and snorkelling.
